Why Grandmother, What Big Eyes you Have!! TNT Review of Red Riding Hood

It is safe to assume that we all know we are beyond crazy fans.  That means that we do stupid things like go see a movie that we really have no desire to see just because allegedly Rob and Kristen may have spent some of their coveted downtime seeing it.  Plus, it was directed by Crazy Cathy Hardwicke who also directed our beloved Twilight.  You know just to see if she somehow can evoke in another movie the same things we felt when we watched Twilight.

She didn't...

Yes, we have two VERY attractive leads.  Hmmm, does the male lead remind you of anyone?

 Visually moving scenes.

 Steamy make-out scenes.

Two men vying for the affections of one woman.

And somehow....

It didn't even come close!!!!

It was just proof to me that nothing will ever come close to recreating this...

Overall, I liked this movie and found it entertaining.  I didn't even figure out the ending.  Have any of you seen this movie?  What did you think?

I feel the same way! I feel like other romance movies are going to have to do more to create the same SQUEE worthy moments in the Twilight saga! (Hence the engagment scene!) I'm so glad you guys posted this! I thought I was the only one:)

I saw it opening weekend because I wanted to support Catherine Hardwicke (and Billy Burke). I mean, let's face it. She cast Rob in Twilight. I will forever be indebted to her ;)

My biggest complaint about the movie was that it was an hour and 40 minutes long but felt like 2 hours and 40 minutes. There just wasn't enough plot to keep it moving.

And Rob has ruined me. I couldn't help but compare the two male leads to him, and they didn't even come close.

I did think that Amanda Seyfried was good in it, though. That girl can really cry.

It was cool seeing Billy Burke, and you girls are too young to appreciate Julie Christie (the grandmother). I had no idea she was in the movie. I was telling my dad about it because he has always been a big fan.

I wasn't sorry I that went to see it, but it didn't have me running out to buy the soundtrack, wanting to see it again, or thinking I'd buy it when it came out on DVD.

I haven't seen the movie {yet} but I want to. I'll probably wait until it comes out on Netflix.

How were the other reviews? Good or bad?

I thought the lead guy was RPattz for a second. I want to see it...I heard Charlie's in it!

I haven't seen this movie yet. I want to, but everything I 've heard makes me want to run for the hills!

I think for me, the cinematography was very similar to what she did in Twilight. I also think the overall feel was geared to be just like Twilight... and hence their biggest mistake of all... They were trying to make it just like it when we all know nothing will ever replace it.

The question is, if Rob were in that movie, would we have loved it as much? Was there a slow motion cafeteria walk through? Cause that answer may be yes.

I saw an Advanced Screening held by Warner Bros. and sometimes that can be tricky. A theatre full of critics and hard core fans can create an atmosphere that might make a movie seem better than actually is. Just saying...

But, I still enjoyed it. My biggest complaint was the dialogue. I HATE when people talk in modern day slang, and it's supposed to be the middle ages. Yet, CH did a good job with the plot and keeping you guessing. I never suspected a thing. And as for the comparisons to Twilight, it didn't even cross my mind. Shiloh, in no way reminds me of Rob, so that wasn't even an issue. I have no problems separating the two stories, and for the sake of supporting CH and Billy Burke, I wanted to see it. I didn't think it was a great movie, but it was a good movie and visually stunning. My teenage daughter actually loved it. So there you go, different strokes. :)

I'll probably wait for rental on this one. It looks interesting but odd. Was it gory? I don't like watching a lot of blood and guts. If it wasn't gory I might be more inclined to watch it.

I'm won't pay $$ to see this one, but will watch it once it shows up on the satellite dish.

Looks to me like Cathy relied heavily on recreating that Twilight feeling. And failed.

Also, I am irrationally biased against Shiloh since learning he was Cathy's first choice for Edward. Um, NO! Wrong. Ew. That just would have been a disaster! Thank goodness the glory that is RPattz got the role instead.

I personally love the irony of Billy Burke's character in this movie in comparison to the Twilight movies. I will not spoil the film for those who have not seen it yet, but the difference of his character in this movie was quite moving in the end. I definitely see why he was hired for this part!

The very first preview I saw looked so cheesy. I'm sure I'll see it, but will probably wait until it's out on dvd.

I haven't seen it but I will. I personally wouldn't even try to compare it to Twilight but that is just me. I actually was looking forward to the filming of this - the trailers I saw all seemed visually stunning and I love movies like that - even if their plots aren't the best. So hopefully it will be on DVD soon and I will see it. My hubby was interested too so that is a positive too :)
